I was expecting an export option for all the device id list to corresponding format from the apple website it self. and I was sure to find it somewhere . and to my horror I came to know that there is n’t any . searched for it .

I couldn’t find anything much useful , I ended up writing some js , which you can use as a  bookmarklet.

Please drag the following “UUID List” button to the bookmarks bar. UUID LIST

Goto the http://developer.apple.com/ios/manage/devices/index.action page and click on the button , there will be a new link added to the top of the device list , which you can click to download the TSV file in a new tab.

What the script / bookmarklet does ?

The data is present in an html table , we iterate through the html table and get the name and device id present as the title of a td. create a link with the data URL which have the TSV data base64 encoded. Hope some one finds it useful.

Connect your Iphone to the one computer where you were syncing your app and data. And now you have to help your friend by trying out his app on your device. you send him the device id, – and you got a .mobileprovision file + .ipa file . You try to sync with your Itunes after following the necessary steps. And you get a warning . All your apps will be lost if you try to sync . which makes you scared . if you do the app-syncing from the one computer the you are safe. if you try to install from a different machine (other than the one computer) All your apps are wiped out . It can happen even if you didn’t sync your iPhone properly with the one computer earlier.

And here comes a life saver – testflightapp – The Iphone app which makes the Iphone beta testing very easy. according to them its helps you to do the – Free over-the-air beta distribution.

so here also you send your device id , as the first step , the developer creates a .ipa file making use of the appropriate provisioning profile.

He sends you a URL back . which you have to open on your IPhone browser. which takes you to an app install flow.

When you install the application it ask you to install a  new profile which you will see on  Settings->General->profiles (along with other provisioning profiles) . ( here you are installing the testflight app)  which will be shown with the icon shown below  . which will install the application to be tested in the next step.

If you have dealt with the pain of distributing builds on a beta  environment . You will definitely tell a thousand thanks to the app & its creators . this makes the process a LOT simpler. Thanks for such a nice app.

the data will be sent over http as – data=data&secureSignature=hash .

Yeah!! , you got it , we get the same data , calculate the signature on the server side with the key that you used at the client side.
and you compare the signatures to make sure that that data is correct . [basic cryptography] .

I added a time stamp value along with the data to make sure that the data is random enough so that the signature + data changes over a time.

They have done a great work by creating such a nice tool , I really like the challenge part which they give for editing the settings .  I was testing the app  added few sites to the white list , and on the nuclear  tab  I pressed the “block all sites except for allowed sites” .  — damn  it blocked everything including google. and I wanted to change it  back — but the nuclear option is irreversible for an Hour (you never said that…   ) — then I read the warning text . (we James Bond guys never read the  manual, do we ? )   “Activating this option will block ALL sites for the number of hours you indicate. There is no way to cancel this once you do it, so be sure you really want to block access to ALL sites. ”

..  I feel making that Text – BOLD ‘n RED would be a good idea..

And here I am , trying to increase my productivity and my browser telling me “shouldn’t you be working now” … then I disabled the extension by going to the extensions tab , everything started working .  Now I feel so sad that I found a ‘work around’ for not ‘staying focused’ . Now I will start cheating on myself by disabling the extension as such ..

Guys — try to get a hook on the disable click and redirect them to the challenges page .  and  Awesome Extension.
